Eli De Poorter

Eli De Poorter

Eli De Poorter is an assistant professor associated with imec and Ghent University. He received his M.Sc. degree in Computer Science Engineering in 2006 and PhD in 2011, both from Ghent University. His main research interests include wireless network protocols, network architectures, wireless sensor and ad hoc networks, future internet, self-learning networks and next-generation network architectures. He is part of the program committee of several conferences and is the author or co-author of more than 80 papers published in international journals or in the proceedings of international conferences. He is also the creator of the patented IDRA architecture, a flexible communication framework for heterogeneous networked devices.

Jeroen Hoebeke

Jeroen Hoebeke

Jeroen Hoebeke is an assistant professor associated with iMinds and Ghent University. He received his M.Sc. degree in Computer Science Engineering in 2002 and PhD in 2007, both from Ghent University. He is co-author of over 80 published articles in international peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, as well as 7 submitted patent applications. Currently he is conducting research on solutions for realizing the IoT encompassing amongst others wireless connectivity (802.11/802.15.4/BLE/LoRa), standard-based solutions (IETF CoAP, LWM2M, etc.) and application enablers, distributed intelligence, robust and diagnosable wireless communication, deployment and self-organization of smart objects. He is the recipient of 4 best paper awards.

Jeroen Famaey

Jeroen Famaey

Jeroen Famaey is an assistant professor associated with imec and the University of Antwerp, Belgium. He received his M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from Ghent University, Belgium in 2007 and a Ph.D. in Computer Science Engineering from the same university in 2012. He is co-author of over 60 articles published in international peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, as well as 8 submitted patent applications. Since 2007, he has been actively involved in over 15 national and European research projects. His research interests include protocol and algorithm design for low-power wireless, coexistence of wireless networks, and deterministic wireless communications. His current research mainly focuses on 802.11ah and 802.15.4e. He is the recipient of 3 best paper awards and the IEEE Communications Society Outstanding Reviewer Award 2015.

Steven Latré

Steven Latré

Steven Latré is an assistant professor at the University of Antwerp and imec, Belgium. He is leading the IDLAB Antwerp research group (50 members). He received a Master of Science degree in computer science from Ghent University, Belgium and a Ph.D. in Computer Science Engineering from the same university. His research expertise focuses on management and control of both networking and computing applications. He currently focuses on the management of large-scale Internet of Things environments and the interplay with cloud computing. He has also been involved in several national and European research projects. He is the recipient of the IEEE COMSOC award for best PhD in network and service management 2012, the IEEE NOMS Young Professional award 2014 and the IEEE COMSOC Young Professional Award 2015.

Maarten Weyn

Maarten Weyn

Maarten Weyn received his Ph.D. in Computer Science on the topic of Opportunistic Seamless Localization from the University of Antwerp, Belgium. He is an Assistant Professor at the University of Antwerp, currently teaching the 3rd year bachelor courses Mobile Communication and Master courses Communication Systems, and Low Power Embedded IoT Systems in the department of Applied Sciences: Electronics-ICT. Is is responsible for the Ambient Environments team project of the postgraduate innovative entrepreneurship of the Flemish Universities. His research in the imec-IDlab research group focuses on ultra-low power sensor communication and embedded systems, sub 1-Ghz communication, sensor processing and localization. Most of his projects are in close collaboration with industry. He is the co-founder of the spin-off AtSharp, involved in the creation of the spin-offs 1OK and Viloc, director of the Dash7 Alliance, IARIA Fellow and initiator of the Open Source Stack OSS-7.

Guido Dolmans

Guido Dolmans

Guido Dolmans joined imec in 2006, and is Chief Scientist / R&D Manager ULP Wireless Systems. He worked at Philips Research Laboratories from 1997-2006. His primary research interest is system architecture/IC design of ultra-low-power radio transceivers. Other research interests are wireless communications PHY and MAC layer design, radio wave propagation, smart antenna design, and RF and microwave IC design. He has (co-) authored over 100 papers in scientific/technical journals and proceedings, and holds 14 US patents. He holds a Ph.D and is associated with Eindhoven University Technology (TU/e) as a full professor.

Kris Hermus

Kris Hermus

Kris Hermus joined imec in 2008, and is currently innovation program manager Flanders in the imecinteract team. He is responsible for the initiation and coordination of collaborations between Flemish companies and imec in the domain of wireless technology and IoT applications. Collaborations can consist of e.g. feasibility studies, the integration of off-the-shelf available components, the design of new components and systems, or prototyping. In his role, Kris Hermus also supports the scientific division for the valorization activities in (funded) research projects, both in imec-Leuven and imec-NL. He is founder (2009) and coordinator of the Wireless Community (www.wirelesscommunity.be), a group of >250 scientific experts from local industry, academia and innovation actors who share information on wireless technology. Kris Hermus holds a M.Sc. (1997) and Ph.D. (2004) degree in electrical engineering from KU Leuven. The subject of his PhD dissertation was perceptual speech and audio processing. From 2005 till 2008 he was a post-doctoral researcher at KU Leuven, working on the valorization of his PhD research in close collaboration with Nuance Communications Belgium.

Bart Lannoo

Bart Lannoo

Bart Lannoo is operational lead of the IDLab Antwerp research group at the University of Antwerp and imec and manages the business development activities within this group. He received a M.Sc. degree in electro-technical engineering and a Ph.D. degree from Ghent University (Belgium) in July 2002 and May 2008, respectively. Before joining the University of Antwerp in April 2016, he has been working at Ghent University and imec, where his main research interests were in the field of fixed and wireless access networks, focusing on MAC protocols, Green ICT and techno-economics. He has been involved in several national and European research projects dealing with various topics like optical access, wireless (city) networks, energy-efficient network design and smart manufacturing. He is author or co-author of more than 100 international publications, both in journals and in proceedings of conferences.

Matthias Strobbe

Matthias Strobbe

Matthias Strobbe received the M. Sc. degree and Ph.D. in Computer Science Engineering from Ghent University, in July 2004 and June 2011 respectively. He is affiliated with research group IDLab from Ghent University and imec since 2004. Since 2011 he works as senior researcher and project coordinator in the domain of smart energy grids. Since 2016 he works also as IoT business developer for the domains smart energy, smart buildings and wireless communications.
